About the Medical Clinic

Banksia Medical Centre Hamlyn Heights is formerly known as Kunatjarra Medical Clinic.

The clinic was trading as Kunatjarra Medical Clinic which was started by Dr Tim Denton in 1984 as a Solo GP after he had worked in Indigenous health care. Since October 2025, A/Prof Bernard Shiu has rebranded the clinic to Banksia Medical Centre Hamlyn Heights.

Over the ensuing years the clinic has expanded to its present size. It is a thriving AGPAL accredited family practice caring for patients from birth to one hundred plus years.

There are six General Practitioners and six registered nurses who are supported by a caring reception team. We have a nurse who does annual home visits for the over 75's living at home.

We also have additional Allied Health Care workers working along

side us.  These include a Psychologist, Podiatrist, Dietitian, Diabetes Educator and Pathology.

Banksia Medical Centre Hamlyn Heights is committed to providing patients with a high standard of care for each patient’s health and wellbeing. Our aim is to give patients the highest possible quality of care by ensuring excellence in all aspects of our practice.

We believe our patients come first. Teamwork is highly valued and encouraged within the practice to promote a harmonious and productive environment.

We hold great importance in ethical and responsible behaviour as it is essential to maintain the trust and loyalty of our patients and staff.
